System:
Windows 7 HTPC, using Windows Media Center
Hauppauge HVR-1700 DVB-T card
Sony HT-SF1300 5.1 stereo

I connect my PC to my amp over HDMI passthrough on the ATI video card.  My amp is not capable of decoding EAC3, only AC3 and other standard 5.1 formats.  When a TV3 program transmits in EAC3 it confuses the crap out of my amp.  Is there a way to have the PC decode this to AC3 or any recognisable 5.1 format for my amp?

I don't believe TV3 broadcasts E-AC3 do they?
I think they broadcast true AC3 Dolby Digital 5.1 all the time, but selectively mix the channels according to the channels from the source material.

Can anyone else confirm/deny/elaborate on that?
Or are you meaning on the AAC audio stream?

Well the channels are tagged with the Dolby Digital Plus logo... and my amp tries its hardest to decode it, the Dolby Digital logo lights up and the 5.1 speakers light up.. but it flashes on and off as it tries and fails.

This was mentioned on here somewhere before. I believe it's a bug with WMC.
