Hi, we have Sky TV.

1) Is it possible to pull the cable off the TV deck and stick it in the Freeview deck (using the same Sky dish)?

2) Does Sky provide Freeview channels for their customers?  Sounds like a fuss to have 2 decks and yank cables off or use splitters IMO.

Thanks.

if you have a sky decoder you get the Freeview channels as part of the Sky package.

I'm not sure what you mean by TV "Deck" and Sky "Deck". Different set top decoders??
Sky does not provide Freeview Channels. Freeview is on a different multiplex and requires a separate decoder.
Sky does provide TV 1,2,3,4, Maori and Prime though which are also on Freeview.
You will not get HD from Freeview via satellite. Sky HD is limited to just a few channels.
You should be able to cascade your decoders or split the cable off one dish for both but then it starts getting technical. You may have problems selecting correct voltage and polarity for the LNB.

Bigglz, pretty much all of the channels that Sky provide that are TVNZ or others like MaoriTV and Parliment are infact taken from the FreeView muxs, ie Sky point their boxs at the FreeView muxs, Sky do not transmit many of these channels themselves, the HD services for TV1/2HD are provided by Sky.

OK. I guess I'm a bit out of date.
They must have been added since I last had a good look at their program guide.
I still prefer my Freeview Terrestrial in HD though.
Bit of a hassle to juggle 2 satellite boxes so I only have Sky on satellite.
The Hauppage HVR2200 Tuner in the PC is very handy too for recording HD but I guess I'll have to get a media player soon to run the pesky .ts files on the TV.

Doesn't Sky have like 3 music channels?  Seems to me if you are paying for sky you get all of Freeview plus more, and Sky have HD products as well.  That's why you pay the big $$$ each month.

Lazy is such an ugly word, I prefer to call it selective participation

Amen! C42 is awesome alternative music. Sky only have a choice between ZM and Solid Gold Hits.

Don't knock tv3 plus 1, it's very useful for recording when you either come into a program half way through on tv3 or if both of your tuners are in use when the program is screened on the first tv3.
