Hi,

Does anyone have any experince with this Hanlong Compression Tool or this one . They are both are about the same price, so I'm just looking for the easiest to use really. I'll just be using it for F connectors at this stage.

There isn't much difference between varius compression crimp tools except for some not being adjustible so they won't work with BNC's etc.

How many are you going to be doing?

I don't recommend doing hex crimp since they are not sky approved anymore.

The one you linked to in your second post is just like the one I got from Jaycar, but it made a mess of the connector. I took it back the next day and they let me change it for one that feels more commercial, uses the same action, but has a better fit and does it super cleanly without affecting the connector. It's the same type as the first one you linked to in your 1st post.

If you are just doing one, get the cheap one. If you are doing lots, get the more expensive one.

Yeah I've tried the crimp ones and I don't find it that great TBH. I did the lounge using one and while it worked OK, I ended up cutting them off before the sky guy came to install mysky and got him to put new ones on.

I've probably got around 20 to do, I just noticed that for the connectors they recommend the CT-H510B so I think I'll go for that one.

I got mine from JA Russell for $1 a connector. They are the orange PPC ones.

I recommend getting the coax stripper tool too. After a bit of practice, I can get it pretty clean now. Need a bit of protection on my fingers from folding back the braid though.

The other reason the h510B is handy is for any right angled connectors you may want to use

I use the PPC one's. Orange connectors for dual shield, black for quad shield, and are Sky approved.

I can't find the package I bought at the moment on Trade Me, but I got a pack for $99 I think it was, 50 orange F's, tool to put the f's on or BNC's (adjustable), and coax stripper that also does other RG coax. It came with Sky stickers all over it as I think it was from a Sky contractor.

I don't waste time with the older hex or radial crimp type. I prefer the PPC one's now.

Thanks guys,

I know this is off topic but seeing as the thread is going...

Do power pass splitters actually have to have power running through them? I went to M10 to buy a 4 outlet splitter to split my UHF signal, which at the moment is un-amplified (might might be in the future depending on what happens when I split the signal) The only f connector ones they had where power pass ones. So will that work for just a straight UHF signal?

No they do not have to have power running through them.

The power indications just show what port/s are able to pass power, should you require this.

This is the kit we use and was recommended again by the MatchMaster tech the other night at a Freeview|HD info evening we went to.
We got ours from JA Russell.

Hex crimps are a no-no these days so either radial or compression crimps are the way to go.
