Hi, I am looking at purchasing the AH-3110 but am concerned by comments regarding HDD compatibility. Can anyone confirm HDD size and brand they are using without any problems? I have a 1TB 3.5" external Seagate I am hoping to use with it. Thanks.
I've got one and it's nice having all my satellite and DTT on the same box. It's also nice having DVB-S2 inbuilt.
What I have found most limiting with the Hyundai is the single tuner operation. It'd be great if the DTT side ran independantly to the satellite tuner, but you can only do one thing at a time.
You will need an externally powered USB drive for sure. I had no luck with a USB powered WD 500GB and have been using a large old 320GB Seagate with separate power supply fairly reliably. Deletions take a long time and some stuttering happens on playback once in a while. Other than that and the odd hardware reboot, it's OK, and I can live with it.
I'm sure with the right HDD it could be better. Maybe ask the Freeviewshop guy what he'd recommend. Let us all know if you find a good one.
edit: I heard that there is no support as they don't make them anymore. There will be no firmware updates and I think HDT aren't even building sat boxes anymore. Pity, cos there doesn't seem to be a similar HD box with DTT and DTH DVBS-2 on the market.
I had one, and had loads of problems getting a USB drive to work with it.
People/suppliers can go on about the type and brand etc all they want, but really as long as a drive is fast enough, it should just work, like it does with many other different make/model/brand PVR units out there.
Yes it does both sat and terrestrial, but having used a freeview approved unit with series link off the EPG etc I was sold on that approach. I now have a freeview approved dual tuner terrestrial unit and an Ultraplus 700 hdmi satellite box for satellite viewing and recording (which doesn't do HD though unfortunately).
Sorry, each to their own, but for me I didn't find this unit the match for me.

Sorry I knew there was something else with it and this is it. It's a single tuner unit essentially, in that it can only record one channel at a time, despite clearly having two discrete tuners in it. ( PlayTV for PS3 is like this too to some degree.) This was a no go for me.
The lack of DTT epg and series link features does also suck. The EIT epg on satellite helps though as you can set recordings for DTT off that.
To be fair to it, I think the satellite tuner alone makes it almost worth getting. DVB-S2 and HD. I'll be keeping mine for this reason and using a panasonic my freeview HD for the rest.

The Freeviewshop forums were my first point of call, however as they are moderated my question never made it to the forum. All he did was give me an email reply with a link to the over priced unbranded HDD on his site.
The single tuner operation doesn't bother me so much as I should be able to watch other channels from the built in freeview tuner in my tv. Correct me if i am wrong on this.
I have one, with a 320Gb 2.5" hdd connected. Oddly, if I connect to the rear usb port, I need external power. If I connect to the front port, it powers the hard disk just fine.
Have just tried a borrowed 1TB Seagate externally powered - seems to work well, but when I plugged it in I lost all my programmed times in the timer...
But it was reliable once plugged in. No stuttering and fast operation. I'm going to buy one.

Vu+ Duo with a USB DVB-T tuner. I haven't done it myself, but others have. I was going to write that if I had UHF cover I'd do it myself, but if I had UHF cover, I would never have bought a satellite box.
Except ... now I've experienced SBS, I wouldn't be without it, and the day they find another home for it on an Australia-only beam will be a sad day indeed for NZ FTA TV.
I've got a Hyundai Ah-3110 and are using it with the WD Elements 1Tb ext. pwrd hd and have found two issues;
1) Heat from the 3110 if you're going to sit on top becomes an issue. Best to find a good aluminium enclosure for the external harddrive or better yet a 3.5 or 2.5 enclosure with a fan.
2) The rear usb port (on mine) caused infrequent 'usb unplugged' errors and stoppages during recorded playback. The response time with pressing of skip and f/fwd buttons was also slower. I have no idea why? I'm guessing a usb port issue?
However interestingly plugged into the front port, there have been no issues. Could this be a handling priority issue?
Apart from these resolved problems, it's a great little unit with nice upscaling and a sensitive tuner. I've also interfaced it with my older sony dvr with a scart cable and use the vcr timer functionality to record as well. As i like the ad skipping and scene selection available on the sony.
