Yes, that's right. Or if you are running a 3rd party receiver of some kind:

- 12268MHz
- 22500 Symbol Rate
- FEC 2/3

I'm listening to the 5:30 news now and the sound is fine. Listening to the AC3 Stereo Downmix on 2.1 speakers, so obviously can't tell if there are any issues with the centre or rear channels.

I tuned in to some of the Day 2 highlights just now and the sound was fine, so maybe they got it sorted.

Did you record the Day 2 highlights per chance? I'd be interested in hearing whether you notice anything strange occurring while Clint is talking between the road cycling and equestrian.

Last night Clint sounded fine during the highlights, but I didn't record them.

I heard a lot of inaccurate rubbish while Clint was talking, but that's just Clint. The sound quality was fine.

Audio is 'wow'ing a lot right now. Lots of pitch changing making it sound like the presenters have a lump in their throats!

During the anthems in the medal ceremonies it's diabolical. If we hopefully get to hear 'God Defend New Zealand' at some point, they better fix it first.

And you mean the whole audio is changing, not just the commentators? How are you listening to the audio? Freeview or Sky? 5.1 or stereo?

Wowing on both Freeview platforms in stereo. Not listening to Sky. Wowing is a term describing a varying in pitch. Like an old fashioned tape recording speeding up and slowing down. It's happening on program and commercials. I have a Panasonic dtt recorder and a Hyundai Sat decoder. Same on both. In HDMI and via optical pcm.

Sounds really bad tonight. Freeview uhf off Fitzherbert in Wellington. Sounds like a bad skype call, lots of warbles both adds and the Olympics.

Thanks for the descriptions.

In return, I was just listening to one of the semi-final rowing races. What I could hear was a 12-14KHz squeel and a low bitrate commentary coming off my terrestrial freeview through a PSIII (using a PlayTV) box.

I'm not getting any of the warbling or wowing as described at all.

I think it must be the Freeview feed only because Prime HD has been perfect, and I've been listening to it on and off since Saturday. One look at the freeview SD channel made me switch back in a hurry. What an awful blurry mess ... even the Prime logo at top right shows compression artifacts!

Prime HD is SO much cleaner to look at and the background shows good detail even during fast camera pans. On freeview, the background is just a shuddering blurry mess until the camera stays still for a bit.

I am so not looking forward to losing Prime HD after the Olympics. Every time they do a promo or a wrap of highlights it's only in SD and looks horrible compared to the live coverage. Their Auckland studio feed looks to be in HD as well, which is good to see.
