The USB tuners have no preamp or other front end so are really sensitive to overloading and cross modulation etc from other sources. If I have my RF modulators combined into the RF feed here, they fail to lock on most muxes and get loads of artifacts, yet all the STB's and TVs are fine with the same other channels there.
+1 If it's only the TV3, 4 mux you can't tune then it must be a setup problem. Most likely lack of signal strength on only that Mux. Check your antenna. Which Tx site are you pointing at? Do you have a UHF antenna and the correct polarity? What are the signal strengths you are getting on each Mux?? Can you confirm you are receiving other channels TV1, 2 Prime) including all the analogue channels? I have noticed dropouts here on the North Shore over the last few days particularly on Prime. No apparent reason as my signals are 100/100.

I can confirm I receive all TVNZ channels 5/6 bars. Prime is 3 bars but is always clear and isn't jerky (all the Chinese stations I pick up are same). Maori TV is the only channel that is jerky and sits on 2-3 bars.
I know this isn't a software issue as the TV this aerial is also used by (obviously not at the same time as my computer) no longer picks up Mediaworks channels either. So you must be right that its something to do with aerial. Could it have been blown by the wind or something?

All this would definitely indicate weak signal problem.
Have a look and see where your antenna is pointing. There are TX sites at Waiatarua, Sky Tower, Remuera and Pinehill. Waiatarua nad Pinehill are horizontal. The rest are vertical. If you are receiving Chinese channels you are probably tuned to the Sky Tower site as I believe this is the only TX that has them. Sky Tower TX is also very low power. Ideally you should be tuning to Waiatarua (if you are line of sight with the Waitakeres) and only one of the others if you have better line of sight. Which one you use depends on your location and terrain. A distinct possibility with the recent gales. It's interesting to see just how many aerials around town are actually pointing the wrong way. Doesn't matter much with analogue but very bad for digital. And if the TV also lost TV3/4 then it's definitely antenna or coax/connectors problem.

That is a high gain antenna and it is horizontally polarised. It should be pointing towards the Big Transmitter Tower in the Waitakere Hills. Can you see that from the top of your roof?
Turns out the splitter has gone weird. Used to be that even though the TV wasn't being used, I could still watch on my laptop with the TV plugged in. Unplugging the TV from the splitter solved it.
