hdinsider: The Aurora channels are shutting down in 12 months, so it might not be worth the hassle. Also, you might be disappointed in the picture quality. The channels are 4:3 aspect ratio and are often also letterboxed. Aurora has only ch7 (via SCTV) and SBS1 in 3 different time zones whereas VAST has all the main Aussie channels and a few are HD.

If you've already got a 65cm Sky Dish with an oval LNB - or any other dish that can access Optus C1, then it's only a small investment to get Aurora (you can get a STB off TradeMe for less than $120 with Aurora access built-in).
It's not as though the STB will be useless after end 2013 (you can still use it for NZ channels), and for the next year you will be able to enjoy the best channel available to viewers in NZ - SBS 1.
gareth41: Ive got a large 3.7 aluminum dish I got off the roof of the Riverhead pub, can scan in the C1 transponders without problems when Sky aren't using the same sat for their feeds/uplinks causing interference. Foxtel help channel comes in loud and clear at around 60% snr on a vu+duo. 7 Central constantly sitting on 99% snr even in very heavy rain due to it being on a dual AU/NZ beam.

What did the Riverhead pub use this dish for?
