To go a little further with this, the channels I have trouble with are 40 to 46 as stated. I now have 2 aerials set up. one is horizontal for Waitarua and all is good there. The other is vertical and pointed at the sky tower. Both Waitarua and Sky Tower are line-of-sight so should get great reception.
I have 4 tv's as such. 2 are Set top boxes and get the channels 40 to 46. No problem now with pixelating. One of the other TVs is a Veon and the other a Konka. Neither of these will pick up 40 to 46.
By 40 to 46 I mean:-
40 = SCTV 41 = V1 42 = V2 43 = K-POP 44 = V4 45 = V5 46 = V6

It seems to me that the el cheapo Veon & Konka just cannot be tuned to whatever frequency is required for these 40 to 46 channels.
Has anyone had problems with these particular brands being limited in some way??

Yes, I also had trouble with those channels.

Please re-read my earlier post to see how I solved it by making the TV believe it was located in Spain. (If set up to NZ, it would only look for "freeview" channels, and ignored the other DVB-T channels (IE was ignoring 40-46 even though I have heaps of signal from Sky Tower).

Tried playing with tuning using different countries.
The Konka only has 4 choices.  NZ, Israel, Iran, Australia, Russia & UAE.  None of then found the Korean channels as far as I could see and certainly the channels were mixed as expected.
The Veon had lots more choices including Spain & Other.  I couldn't find the Korean channels after trying Spain & Other and have now tuned back to NZ.  More playing later.
What is it that Freeview don't Authenticate the channels and download the relevant Info?

I don't think they are part of the Freeview. They just happen to be other unrelated digital channels or another digital mux on UHF.

You might want to have a look at this old thread

http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=83&topicid=81581

It appears these channels 40 - 46 are probably on Channel 50 Mux at 706mhz.
Have you tried tuning manually instead of scanning?
