I sent a help request to freeview and the immediately blamed Panasonic. They said they had to contact Panasonic and request a fix which they expected would be through a firmware upgrade. This was on Monday morning and I have heard nothing more yet. In saying this I have not had any problems so far this week.

And only with TV ONE on mine. Last week I did a channel scan update, cleared all my scheduled recordings, reprogrammed from the EPG and have had no more problems. Recordings from Sky via the A/V input have to have the timing set manually so never have a problem there. Setting the times manually is actually far easier now than it was on the old VCRs as we now have much more user friendly on-screen menus to help. Never rely on the Broadcasters to get it right tough. People have become far too reliant on the EPG and not only have forgotten how to set the times manually but also don't physically check the times are correct.
Well at least it's good to see there has been a response from Panasonic.
All my recordings have been picked up correctly this week so far but I checked them this morning and Big Bang Theory for next Wednesday has shifted to early Thursday morning.
Yes setting the recordings manually is a breeze. The EPG has made things to easy for us.
What a situation. Freeview blame Panasonic and Panasonic blame Freeview.
How much better off we'd be if Freeview never existed and the BCNZ (or nowadays equivalent) ran the show. They wouldn't have forced equipment manufacturers to cripple functionality for NZ users and we'd have a far greater choice of gear.
As it is FV have the manufacturers at their mercy, and can change things to bugger up the market and consumer whenever they feel like it.
Are Panasonic correct when the say the problem affects all EPG-set recorders, not just theirs? This seems to contradict what others say in this thread.
Remember that freeview has been running here now for 6 years or so and when dtt was launched there was only one box available for a year- not because of freeviews rules, but because the technology was almost a world first.

Not sure BCNZ would have been any better, but Freeview mandating crippled equipment irritates me as well.
Their main leverage is that they mandate the crippling in order to access the EPG. However, I'm not sure what would happen if a manufacturer just thumbed their nose at FV and released an unapproved box that could receive the EPG. Or just officially adhered to the requirements but quietly "leaked" an unofficial firmware for their approved box that removed the crippling onto the net - which would give their decoder a market advantage.
The other thing I believe they do is put pressure on retailers that in order to be listed on the FV website and be included in FV propaganda as an "official" retailer their have to sell approved, and only approved, boxes. That's pretty much the same abuse of a a dominant position that the Commerce Commission prosecuted Fisher & Paykel for a couple of years ago - you could only get good pricing on F&P Kit and get access to spare parts etc if you didn't stock non-F&P whiteware. I would be very interested to see what happened if a retailer responded by approaching the Commerce Commission.......
Glad I've got a Panasonic Mheg-4, not 5 then. It can skip stright past ads too. Each ad break is about 4 minutes. The skip function is one minute, simply click it 4 times in a row.
I deleted everything and reprogrammed last week. It all went fine for the week but just turned it on now to find it's all screwed up again! have had no answer back from Freeview or Panasonic.

Same here. Just checked. Had it set to series record a program on TV3 at 2045 - 2145 and it is now recording TV3 but with the program time for TV3+1 so its recording the wrong program.
