FOCUS0: As Stated - LNB's are fine if used

Leave them unused and problems occur.

Like parking a car up outdoors for two years expecting it to start

I disagree with your statement, but you could be right.

kemistry: So, pixie dust fell on my satellite box/dish over night and somehow it is now working fine, with the odd exception that the lip sync is now out ..

Maybe more pixie dust will fall tonight and fix that as well

Thanks for all the feedback .. No idea what the solution was !!!

What does your signal strength show?

As stated by others, I agree that this sounds less like pixie dust and more like the LNB going off frequency. The decoder has a lock window (a range of frequency variation) that it can cope with when the LNB local oscillator frequency drifts. It sounds to me like it's sometimes going beyond the point where the decoder can get a lock on the channels. I get around this by setting my LNB frequency in the decoder to 5MHz below the normal frequency to match the faulty LNB. The value that works for me is 10745MHz. You could try this if you lose lock again.

As for the lip sync problem, some non-approved boxes have had trouble keeping sound in sync since the channels changes. The only solution is to delete the channels that are out of sync, then rescan the transponders and move the newly found channels into the positions of the deleted ones.

don't mess with me.... i'm the hd insider....
