B1GGLZ:YvonneW: Thank you all for your help. We now have a Samsung Blu ray recorder connected to the tv in the sitting room
I have another question though. We have an older flat screen Toshiba tv in the bedroom, which is working fine with a Dish Freeview box. Can I use my Panasonic DMR-EH58 to record? How do I connect the Freeview box to it and the tv? I tried yesterday using an HDMI cable to the recorder and an HDMI cable to the tv, didn't work. Then tried with some composite cables (red, yellow and white), but still no luck. I must be doing something wrong because I understood that I could still use the recorder if I had a Freeview box. Help again please.
The HDMI on the Recorder is only an output so that won't work for recording. Just use the red white yellow cables from the Freeview box to the recorder and HDMI out from recorder to TV. Keep the HDMI from the Freeview box to TV and then you can select on TV either HDMI in for Freeview or AV in for recorder.
I can't post a link to the operating instructions for the recorder. But on pg 8 of the operating instructions for the recorder it shows the back and the connections. Do the yelloe, red & white cables go from the Freeview box to the AV4 in slots? Then the HDMI cable from the recorder to the tv? This will allow me to see what I have recorded if I have selected HDMI from the input menu on my tv?
The tv only has one HDMI slot. So how do I view Freeview as I have used this slot to connect the recorder? Do I use another set of yelloe, red & white cables from the AV4 out slots to one of the AV in slots in the tv?
