Hook the Panasonic recorder up to the TV with HDMI if you haven't already. The quality from composite would be bad. And try disabling overscan if it is an LCD

According to the specs at LG's NZ website it has a digital tuner.

Check the remote, if it has a "Guide" or "EPG" button - it will have Freeview

Models sold in New Zealand without Freeview tuners were mostly Australian models and often had DVB-T tuners for Australia which may not work properly here.

Try looking at the paper manual. The downloadable manual on their website is a generic one and not for this specific model.

Our 2009 panasonic plasma ( geez - didnt know we have had it that long) has built in freeview hd and no stickers on it anywhere.
But of course it does have freeview built in.
Would be gobsmacked if yourst doesnt have freeview hd built in.
2013 was the year they started shutting down analogue - it would have been irresponsible to sell a tv without freeview included.
