Spyware: Also the cable you describe may simply be a fly lead, i.e., not identify the cable in the wall.

a fly lead??
All I know is both the sky dish cable and the UHF aerial cable come from the roof down the side of the house into the lounge. We've kept the sky one in the lounge for our main TV and I've fed the UHF aerial cable through to the bedroom.

I don't know what the loose looking wire is for, but will check it is not touching the pointy needle bit

Can you actually see a UHF antenna on the roof??

Spark Max Fibre using Mikrotik CCR1009-8G-1S-1S+, CRS125-24G-1S, Unifi UAP, U6-Pro, UAP-AC-M-Pro, Apple TV 4K (2022), Apple TV 4K (2017), iPad Air 1st gen, iPad Air 4th gen, iPhone 13, SkyNZ3151 (the white box). If it doesn't move then it's data cabled.

yes can see the aerial and the sky dish.
It looks like the previous owners of our place and next doors (2 townhouses joined together) have put a 'splitter' in because I can see 2 cables coming out of a splitter from the sky dish and I can't see a splitter for the UHF aerial but again there are 2 cables coming from the direction of the UHF aerial
2 cables to into our place and 2 into the neighbours...
We get sky TV fine but are getting no signal from the UHF

jtan: Does anyone here have any recommendations for a Freeview installer for the Wellington City region, and/or a rough estimate of costs to get an aerial installed if required?

I recently used ScottsTV after finding them recommended on some older Geekzone posts. Although I never managed to meet Alistair in person, over the phone he was very pleasant and easy to communicate with and the job was done well. Cost will depend on the amount of work to be done obviously (hourly rate for labour).

Well I took the connection apart again, pulled all the wire things down then put the pointy thing on, screwed it tight then screwed the 2 plastic bits back together, turned TV and freeview box on - did an Auto tune and hey presto.......all the channels came up!

Yep. Must have been a short in the connector when you assembled it. Easily done with those.
