Just a point to note for HD DVD users out there (there are still some of us!):

Deluxe version does not support HD DVD, only Ultra version.

Which makes some sort of access to just the v8 decoders (H.264 and AAC-LATM) a better deal than having to purchase the full blown version again - if Mauricio can arrange something of this nature?

freitasm: Seeing that H.264 is a requirement for our DVB-T HTPC projects I have been working with Cyberlink on something for sometime now - no updates yet, but I will let folks know when - and if - anything comes along.

I have managed to arrange a 10% discount for PowerDVD Ultra v7. I am waiting for the discount code and the link to their online store and will post this information later.

Any chance of extending this to Ultra v8?  Because that would be even more useful with the Cyberlink audio decoders apparently able to decode AAC-LATM.

Nope. I was told this would be an one off - and couldn't apply to a brand new product. It took me about two weeks to get this...

Ok thanks for your efforts, this should help other Geekzoners yet to move over to DTT.  I guess the rest of us have already coughed up for it ...

If you don't want to spend too much perhaps this might work just for the DVB-T broadcasts?

Just to add 2c to this, I bought this the day it came out - not knowing that it had only just been released.  I had coincidentally just re-built my htpc and needed decoder software.  Have to say I'm very happy with it so far.  PowerDVD was awful on my last rig but it really seems to like my new hardware.  SDTV is playing back beautifully - much better than the standard Microsoft Vista decoder.  DVD is looking fantastic too, and Dolby Digital is as it should be - very immersive.  I'd recommend this to anyone who wants a quality decoder and HD playback tool.

I've just heard from Cyberlink and got a product link and discount codes.

The problem is that 10% discount on Power DVD 7 Ultra is US$89, while you can buy Power DVD 8 DeLuxe (which now supports H.264) for US$69 full price. So why get a discount on an old product if you end up paying US$20 than the new, improved version?

I contacted Cyberlink again with this... We shall see if they can make a better offer.

Aw, bit unfortunate there.

However since that driver zip contains hardware accelerated H264 codecs and its freely available isn't powerdvd no longer necessary?

Does anyone who uses powerdvd 8 know how to stop it autoplaying everytime I mount an .iso file or insert a dvd?

I want to just use the codecs etc but I don't want powerdvd to autoplay anything.
There are no settings in powerdvd 8 to do this like there are in 7.

Anyone else having this issue, for instance if you want to mount the movie in daemon tools and play within mediaportal?

Sorry, I didn't think that could be that simple. So you are saying in an abbreviated kind of way that if I go into control panel, default programs that there are settings there? Because there is nothing inside the powerdvd software itself.

I will try your suggestion and let you know.
