alanbe: Thanks - I also get a picture that is a "perfect fit" to the 50 inch Pioneer; but - do you have a black line top and bottom of the screen when viewing (most) programmes from TV1, 2 3 or in fact the demo HD channel? If not you are not in wide screen. I can not - the picture is distorted (squashed-in vertcally) unless I use 576p or 576i. Any other feed back?
There should be no black bars displayed on a widescreen TV when viewing 16:9 footage :) The options disable as the TV is displaying it in the correct format.
4:3 footage will display with black bars on the right and left.
I think Rugrat has explained it better than I have, but yeah the guy's at DSE should of advised you of this when you called through. Looks like they dont know what they're selling (what a shocker ;))
Thanks Rugrat - that is a common mistake - the correct aspect for viewing normal widescreen TV broadcasts on a widescreen TV is that there should be a black line top and bottom - check your TV manual
