Can you hardwire (run a cable to) the DiskTV and Chromecast?

 

Then everything will be a lot more reliable.

As I've been saying, it is already hardwired into my modem. It didn't drop the Wi-Fi, that could still be seen on my devices but it dropped internet access. I couldn't even get it on my computer which is hooked in directly.

I am assuming you are with Vodafone ? What do their helpdesk say? They will log into your modem remotely and look at the stats etc to determine the next steps...

I've just had an upgraded to a two-band modem Wi-Fi. Both the 2.4GHZ & 5GHz bands are switched on but none of my wireless devices are seeing it.

 

Not the Dish TV T2100, HP Slate Extreme, nor the Chromecast.

 

It's a Home Gateway HG659.

 

Anyone heard of this problem or have a solution?

 

 

You may have 2 issues

 

- none of your devices do 5GHz.

 

- the range and therefore strength of your 2.4GHz signal is inadequate for your devices on 2.4GHz (how far is your router from the devices, how big is your house, how many storeys)

The HG659 5Ghz radio have a track record of dying, mine included. Turn if off, and use 2.4, or plug in another wireless router and use it in AP mode.

It is a one-story flat. When I connect wireless with the T2100 it says anything from about 83% to 99%, but it would be less than 10 metres from the router to the device. Like I said, the Wi-Fi isn't the problem now.

Things are working OK now, and since switching to channel 11 there's been no interference worth mentioning. My question is what is 11n MCS - should I select a manual channel or leave it on auto?

So now I have a new problem. Until recently everything worked fine. Now when I use WiFi it finds it but won't connect to the network, however if I use direct network wiring it will. Another device, my tablet, still works just fine with WiFi. Why would the T2100 find the correct WiFi connection but not the network? It doesn't make sense. I DID change something on the home gateway system recently, nothing major, I can't remember what I did though. What could possibly change things?

Just to confirm you guys are changing the AP names from a single one to VodafoneXXXX-2G and VodafoneXXX-5G or alike?
As I have found without a segregated AP name it will flick between 2.4 and 5 a lot causing a lot of the issues people describe.
