Powercinema detected both tuners and I did run a scan for each tuner. They are both selectable in various menus.

I have MP installed but I do not use it. After 20 min playing with the settings, I could not get anything on the screen. I suppose I will have to insiste a bit more as many people are using it and are happy. If MP gives me same quality with Powercinema and features (recording, etc.) and most of all, fast forward with a speed higher than 2x, I will switch to that, I do not see whay not.

Unfortunately, I did not manage to get it configured. You actually get 3 icons on the screen, not one... hmmmm... I will try to spend more time with it.

Can I actually damage any of the setting I have with Powercinema just playing with the settings for MP?

Media Portal has a fast forward up to 32x I believe and also has customizable skip steps like 5sec, 10sec, 15sec, 30sec, 1min, 3min, 5min, 10min, 15min, 30min e.t.c. e.t.c. I used Power Cinema for about 25min before setting up Media Portal and never looking back. The advantages of Media Portal are almost endless. Not to mention if you have any problems the MP forums are incredibly helpful and very well maintained.

The current stable release of Media Portal comes with the TV server component and the Media Portal Front end. The three icons you refer to will be the configuration for both the TV Server and the Front end and also a shortcut to running Media Portal proper.

I wrote a guide myself for how to set MP up but Cranz (one of the members here) has written one and put it online. http://cranznz.googlepages.com/ it’s very thorough and should be able to get you going without too many, or any, hiccups along the way.

So long as you don’t change any of the settings for the existing power cinema codec (which I don’t believe you can do very easily without powerDVD) you’ll be fine to have MP and Power Cinema up and running together.

Finally back and trying again!

Reinstalled MediaPortal about 3-4 times now, tried a range of decoders etc and still keep getting lock ups when changing channel quite frequently. Very annoying, also found when using the TV setup and Media Portal setup program can often not respond and needs forced close.

Damit why its Mediaportal so unstable on my system.

I just installed PowerCimena 5 and it works flawlessly, can change channel all I want with no freezing.

Next: I guess I'll try again with Vista this time, can't think of anything wrong I've done. Got more than whats necessary installed by now
