Everything gets a benifit from HD, just wish they would do proper HD with 1080p and stop the 50 frames nonsense. Going between shows from elsewhere and seeing the same thing on broadcast with the frame rate munged is really jarring. Pacing is all off with people talking etc.

It's 1080p 25 in a 1080i 50 stream. Sped up from 1080p24

Ratings I would suppose.

Ratings??  They announced it was going to Duke before the pilot aired on 2.  Time for TVNZ to pull it’s finger out and make Duke HD.  Last time I asked them their excuse was not bandwidth and no HD payout equipment.   Get rid of the +1 channels and that would solve the bandwidth problem and  surely they must have access to some basic HD playout gear.

rugrat: I'll be happy if Duke folds. Then they'll have to put all programs on HD channel, or let someone else buy them.

They'll only make it HD if everyone watch's it sounds a bit strange, be like opening a store with crap products and you'll only put high quality products in if people buy the crap ones, otherwise shut up shop, strange business model!

You mean like Sky and put it behind a paywall??

I was hoping more Netflix. From Sky media realises page it looks like TVNZ has sold rights to all it's DC
Programs like Flash, Super Girl, Green Arrow etc , and they're going to be played on the Box channel, currently SD.
So they're now behind a paywall and in SD and still full of adds even though have to pay.

So having Sky buy it only makes it worse as people happy with SD can't watch without paying, and it's still SD and got adds in it. Makes no difference to me as wasn't prepared to watch it in SD anyway.
If Netflix brought it, would've been all good.
