Most of the posters in this thread are just like chimpanzees on MDMA, full of feelings of bonhomie, joy, and optimism. Fred99 8/4/21
No, no splitter. We brought the aerial down (not easy) to check it and there was rust around one of the elements. That was cleaned and the inside of the connection box gone over. This aerial does not have a balun in the usual sense so there is nothing vulnerable in the box, just a metallic layer. The cable looks fine everywhere though of course anything is possible. We do have satellite Freeview but the quality is better on UHF when it works properly. My own feeling after having gone over everything is that there is nothing wrong with the system but the quality of our reception has declined for some reason, possibly tree growth or atmospheric conditions or something else.
