Not quite, think no difference between watching and recording! The digital channels are just streams of data. so even if you're watching TV you're recording and palying it back at the same time, that's how time shifting works. i.e. you're watching TV then you pause it to make a coffee then come back and hit play; you're watching recorded TV. So you can watch/record all the channels on the same MUX. and if you have 2 tuners (HVR2200) watch/record all the channels on 2 MUXs!
