So I see from mcranz that this card can tune 1 analog and 1 dvb-t at the same time.  Thanks for confirming that.

Can this card also record 2 DVB-t at once (assuming it's not already recording in analogue).

Hi all,

I was thinking about getting an HD Tuner for my laptop. I have seen a USB one today for $100, but I don't have a particularly high-end laptop, and am a bit worried that it may not handle it.

I have a 2GHz Centrino with 1GB of ram - do you think this would be enough?

The product description says it runs better with dual-core machines.

Thanx

I think it can record 2 terrestrial or 2 analogue at once. Wasnt sure if it could record terrestrial and analogue at the same time but mcranz confirms that it can be done in vista with MediaPortal TVServer. Looks like there's bugs if you do it in xp though.

With the HVR2200 and MediaPortal TVServer you can watch/record 1 of the following combinations:

2x Analog
1x analog / All digital channels of the TVNZ mux (TV1, TV2, TVNZ6,7 etc)
1x analog / All digital channels of the MediaWorks mux (TV3, TV4 etc)
All digital channels on the MediaWorks mux (TV3, TV4 etc) / All digital channels on the TVNZ mux (TV1, TV2, TVNZ6,7 etc)

Got a scart to component cable from sky, i'm assuming i can plug this into the HVR-2200 with mediaportal? Will it be able to blast using my MCE remote?

Slightly off topic here, but I got a Scart to component cable and it didn't make much difference at all on my 42" display - was very disappointed

It will probably record fine. I use a Sempron 64 to record using a Hauppauge DVB-T usb device. But playing back is another matter - that machine can't playback (no accelerated video card)

The HVR2200 doesn't support component input - just composite and s-video

My bad, i meant scart to 4 pin svideo cable, thats what we got.

So the same question, Can i use this to connect sky to the HVR2200, with mediaportal also set up to auto blast commands?

Yes. So how does this work? Do you map 'virtual channels' which blast a command and switches to the svideo input?
