I think you miss the point. While the PS3 can access any kind of storage from the network, it cannot IIRC write to network storage. Hence my point about, stick in a 1Tb drive in the PS3 and that's fine but you will have problems with a USB devices since they will have to be FAT32 and therefore have filesizes limited to 4Gb.

I see yr point about the fat32 factor. DVD's string near seemless chapters and scenes toghter from smaller files... And I've never seen a DIVx / mp4 (whatever) bigger than 4Gb anyway. Obviosly that's going to balloon outof control quickly too with 1080x60fps.
Theres more Balls ups than that form SONY onto their 3rd console now..?!
I don't think storage is an issue over all.

FYI a one hour capture from DVB-T is about 4.3Gb so the problem is right now

PS3 is a DLNA compatible media centre. You can use just about any form on Network storage device for media. Also Yes +1TB drive usb sticks USB drives.
Theres barely an issue of storage.

Are there any DVB-T set top boxes out there? Just a cheap one, not a $380 one.

For under $300, the ET DTT receiver is a nice unit. Picture quality is well up there with the best, and it runs cool and changes channel fast. It has a proper 8 day EPG and outputs HD over component as well as HDMI (which the approved boxes won't do). There are a couple of minor issues being addressed with a firmware update currently, but I've been so impressed, I've got another 30x units arriving tomorrow. I know I shouldn't say this, but I can offer Geekzoners a very good price. PM me if interested.

The NZ supplier claims that a future firmware update will allow recording to USB hard disk. Personally I wouldn't count on it, but if it happens, it would be a bonus.
