Its not a hardware fault in my experince. I have always had this issue using the cyberlink codec. I changed to the ArcSoft totalmedia codec and have had no picture issues ever since.

charley: eXDee what was the problem with your HVR-2200 and did the replacement fix that?

Problem was not related to this issue. The Audio jack at the back broke off, so its getting replaced. Haven't got the the replacement card back yet because i think he's waiting on the SPDIF bracket i ordered. Hopefully it'll come tomorrow.

I'm going to use the Arcsoft codec from now on, however i'd really prefer just registering the .ax files alone, rather than installing an entire package i'm never going to use. Might do some digging tonight on this.

I had this problem while watching the Olympics - checked out my video card (some type of 8400 chipset), and updated drivers etc. The pixelation still occurred.

Decided to purchase an ASUS 9600GT video card (512Mb) - all worked really well - no pixelation . It may have been the faster card, ability to change to more appropriate resolution or better drivers. But it worked, and the image looks better.

I got one-a-doze <9600> and I still get occasional pixellation, infrequesnt on 3, was more frequent on 1 during olympics.
