Yeah you're right, sorry.. just get the current/next programme.

I do have an xml generator for GP-PVR so I guess the same thing could be used for this..

Yes - there is now a beta version of software available to import external XML EPG data into Windows 7

BTW I was just looking at uour site earlier and you mention the model you have working with digital cable TV? Is this correct or have you incorrectly copied the specs from the tech version?

Just as another comment I'm not sure how wise it is to start mentioning Windows MCE, VMC and VMC TV pack support on your website as all these products have no H.264 support and are incapable of being used to view Freeview|HD in new Zealand.

Got mine this morning!

Tested it already with a nasty cheap dipole aerial (the kind you get with analogue tv tuner cards for picking up FM radio

), good thing my office has line of sight to Wellington's Mt Kaukau transmitter — just managed to scrape together enough signal to tune something.

Looks like the bitrates we're getting should be ok for streaming over wireless too, I measured 1200kB/s for TV1/2 (720p) and 1800kB/s for TV3 (1080i).

Now all we need are the providers to add some more channels for us to watch!

Not a bad price too for a dual HD recorder.

Just a little caution is required - the HDHomeRun isn't a recorder, it's only a dual DVB-T tuner unit.

It has some very useful features, like an ethernet connection meaning that it can be anywhere on a home network, and used by any PC on the network. But it's up to a PC to do the actual recording and playback. Some thought has to be given to hardware and software specifications for any PC used for playback of Freeview|HD recordings, and the same considerations apply if a HDHomeRun is used as the Freview tuner. Codecs for H264 and HE-AAC, and the desirability of a video card capable of H264 hardware accelleration should be given some thought - the HDHomeRun doesn't remove any of those issues.

Just a quick question Blair - even Ascent are now listing the unit as supporting digital cable tv which was the issue I raised above. Can you actually confirm that you only have the DVB-T unit and that this doesn't actually do both DVB-T and DVB-C like the TECH model?

Hiya, this had actually been puzzling me a little also, as I don't have a cable connection here to test it with. The official specs do list "Unencrypted digital cable" DVB-C (QAM256/128/64 Annex A/C).

I have emailed SiliconDust for a clarifacation as I don't want to put anyone wrong, but I do believe it supports it. If you're keen to test this out for me I'd be happy to loan you a unit, PM me your details?

There is no unscrambled digital cable in NZ. With asubscriber card, appropiate card reader and TV software (such as GB-PVR) that supports MDAPI you can view TCL Digital Channels on your TV. There are a handful of people who use DVB-C cards to view their TCL Digital TV.

Yeah that's basically my thoughts - I haven't heard of anything, however I thought there was some cable tv available in Wellington? Definitely nothing down here in Dunedin ;)

Do Not plug anything other than TCL equipment into their network. You will be in breach of T&Cs.

I can assure you there is nothing un-encrypted in DVB-C Digital.
