bazzer: It's pretty average, but my one "works". It's got problems, but maybe the money saving is worth it to you? As long as the seller is happy to return and refund if you find the problems too annoying for you. I doubt they will, but if he says he will... Buyer beware, anyway.

Audio through HDMI is mostly OK, but you won't get 5.1 on TV3.

Though I only checked briefly I think it does 5.1 over optical. Slightly annoying you need two connections though. I agree it's not the greatest box to put it mildly but at the time it was cheapest and for my needs which were to get Freeview UHH on a nonHD TV it's fine. I do find it locks up every now and then so you can't change channels (well mine does) that only a power cycle can fix.

Exactly.

My NEC HD Plasma does not have HDMI (or HDCP) so rather than replace what is a fine panel (costing $8000 when I got it) I need to use components that output HD over component. Most won't do it not for technical reasons, but for licensing reasons, the studios don't want their HD material to be copied, and it is easy to copy from component connections.

This was the only reason I got the ET.

Oh, Okay. I will be buying the Sanyo as soon as I get payed.

Can someone answer this for me. My dad has a MyFreeview|HD box (I believe there is only one model for MyFreeview|HD, the Zinwell one), we plugged my little set of bunny ears in (with an amplifier on it) and we could get a perfect signal (perhaps not when using two tuners, but thats okay for the Sanyo), heck, we could even get a great signal from a little metal wire antenna thingy.

Are all Freeview boxes as sensitive as my dads?

The PC I was using with a USB DVB-T stick wasn't so sensitive, but would have been watchable (however the computer did not have enough processing power to do HD, so I could only really get C4, Maori, TVNZ 6 & 7, and some of the other channels).

It depends where you are in relation to a Freeview|HD transmitter, but most people in a Freeview|HD reception area will need a decent roof-mounted aerial.

Hmm. My dad won't split the signal a third time, not that we could even get it over to my room, so I guess I'll see how it goes.

I could get it alright on my PC, except for the occasional pixelation screw up, is that a decoder or aerial thing?
