bazzer: It's pretty average, but my one "works". It's got problems, but maybe the money saving is worth it to you? As long as the seller is happy to return and refund if you find the problems too annoying for you. I doubt they will, but if he says he will... Buyer beware, anyway.
Audio through HDMI is mostly OK, but you won't get 5.1 on TV3.
Though I only checked briefly I think it does 5.1 over optical. Slightly annoying you need two connections though. I agree it's not the greatest box to put it mildly but at the time it was cheapest and for my needs which were to get Freeview UHH on a nonHD TV it's fine. I do find it locks up every now and then so you can't change channels (well mine does) that only a power cycle can fix.
