I went out and got the 90 cm dish - nedless to say it is totaly more than I need - I just did a blind scan and got all the chanales - SBS good if you speak aribic or greek or wait all day for some english stuff - Oh well - any way I see you have BBC and the austrailin ( hey my spell checker is not working) do you have a dual LNB set up or what ? just curious
Still getting SBS fine, no issues with a standard sky dish in Milford :-) Enjoying watching the movies some great ones have been on.. Top Gear and afew other programs and at the moment the Cricket on SBS1 :-)
Watched initial-D movie the other night.. apart from being in Japanese had english subtitles anyway it was good :-) Also great to watch a channel and not have the bad quality i.e. TVNZ <ahem>.
Anyone with an HD satellite receiver will appreciate one of these two channels even more. Cricket live from England, in HD, One Day games starting Friday night for those who can't sleep. Hope it stays around.
I'm hoping it'll stick around since the details in lyngsat mention it's a renationalised feed for Tasmania. Here's hoping it doesn't go scrambled full time like the other free to air system in Aussie where you still need a one off purchased card for.
My al cheapo satellite receiver (NEC based, audio hums and all) gives around 52% for Freeview and 35% for SBS on my al cheapo 46cm dish. However, I think the quality scale is written terrible and some how shows an indication going on what the max bitrate (15Mbps) the broadcast could be in it's results. I've firmware updated the thing twice from extrememly bad bugs in the software.
An older Strong box (4620) shows 98% for SBS on a 60cm in Invercargill. It shows around 92% on my 46cm on the front porch for Freeview.
I'm in a MDU so can't see these feeds. With Sky's new satellite launch my understanding is they are fitting head-end systems to all MDU's to see both satellites and both polarity's, so I'm hoping I will be able to tune in then.
Does anyone know whether this is true and what dates this might start happening from???
They my use H and V on the new sat but still scrambled. There is only SBS 1 and 2. They repeat SBS 1 on 3 and 4, bit like Reserved Chs. on D1 freeview.
