Are there any plans to get rid of the cringe worthy ad's and replace them with something that won't turn people off?

When are you going to shutdown, and stop wasting my taxpayer dollars on free to air TV?

If you use my Quic signup you can also use the code R570394EKGIZ8 for free setup. Opinions are my own and not the views of my employer.

Will broadcasters be encouraged to maintain the current reasonably high encoding quality with the addition of new multiplexes rather than subjecting us to a precipitous drop in bitrate and quality by overcrowding the existing ones with new programs?

With the recent proliferation of DVRs, would some form of regulation of broadcasters be considered to address the inability they frequently seem to display to actually play content at the times listed in the program guide?

Is there a chance we will be forced to buy DVB-T2/S2 equipment (as seen recently in the UK with BBC HD), or will DVB-T/S stick around for the foreseeable future?

Is it possible we might see 24-hour international channels like BBC World, CNN, or Al Jazeera at some point?

Hi,

Can you please answer the following questions regarding Trackside/TAB.

1) Why is Trackside/TAB not provided on the Freeview platoform?
2) Assuming NZRacing wanted to have Trackside/TAB on the platform, would there be any direct cost to NZRacing?

3) Is there currebtly any plans to bring Trackside/TAB to the freeview platform and if so, when?

Cheers
Graeme

Why, given the ease with which it can be worked around and the irritation it causes to many, do you persist with dopey content protection rules on the certified boxes.

I can't, for instance, access the hard drive of a compliant box using my PC and transfer HD files off. I can however, grab the content just fine using a PC tuner, Tivo with a MAK, or non compliant STB. I have to advise the my technogically literate who are upgrading to Freeview to avoid any box or recorder with the Freeview logo like the plague, all it guarantees is that the equipment has been deliberatley and thoroughly crippled.

The hardware is capable, the demand is there, and the alternatives mean that the protection you seek is non-existent. All you are accomplishing is to make some viewers experience miserable, and turn your logo branding into a sign saying "Guaranteed Broken".

Would Freeview please consider re-thinking the decision not to broadcast an EIT EPG alongside the MHEG5 on DVB-T? It is done on DVB-S and I would guess that satellite bandwidth is expensive and limited.

This is a request, and if it were to be a question, it would be along the lines of ...

Any chance you could broadcast the original pre-transmission resolution size of each program, within the EPG info?

This is so we can know if a program has been "upscaled" before transmission.

Why? ...

I generally re-encode programs that I have recorded using my PC-based PVR media server, because some of my viewing devices cannot handle fullHD resolution, nor some of the high-end "encoding options" in the stream, e.g. CABAC.

If this "upscaling" info was in the Program information, then if my conversion program could know that a 576 line source had been upscaled to 720 lines, I would program it to re-encode back down to 576, not the transmitted 720 line height, so it can be better viewed at no loss of quality on less powerful devices. Less importantly,  it would also take up less hard drive space and use less network bandwidth when played over my wi-fi.

Thanks, :)

Is there any chance the bitrates for HE-AAC could be increased please? The audio on the Freeview advert (with the guy wearing headphones) tonight sounded a little harsh to my ears.
