Gilco2: i have the Panasonic 880.  I like it with couple of hates.  Hate the freeview guide to use to record.
I have to switch to the channel I want to record then wait while the guide loads then I can select record.  Quicker to do timer record.

Hey, I just got a 880 over the break, no you do not have to change the channel before you load the guide, you can load the guide on any channel you are watching, and the current programme will appear in the live TV window within the guide, you can then change channel/day within the guide, select what ever programme you want to record, and then exit the guide, and you continue to remain on the channel you were originally watching.

My only beef is that I cannot get Xbmc to play the HE-AAC audio on the DLNA content the 880 serves, ( TV3s Dolby is fine)
