allstarnz: I'm just annoyed at the backwards step of moving high rating shows to the new SD channel. They have the space, so I think they should make it HD.
No wonder they have such poor uptake in HD when the TV networks are making such a half a$$ed effort.
etl: I don't really notice much difference between 3 and 3+1.
Is the difference in the sound output, not the video quality. Or is it both?
I also though C4 was outputting ok, but maybe I just need glasses (or so my Wife keeps telling me).
If they are just re-branding C4 to FOUR and leaving the quality as is, and moving shows over. I don't see the big deal. As I am enjoying C4 as is now anyway.

Jaxson: Yeah as above. It's far more noticeable on a full HD show and a full HD TV. Hard to tell about the surround sound sometimes too if your receiver defaults to 'making it up mode' from a 2 channel source.
Get it all lined up though and the likes of CSI etc are stunning mini movies.

wilt64:gehenna: Do they even have the bandwidth for HD?
Yes i believe so TVNZ have TV1,TV2 in 1080i and TVNZ6/7 in SD on one mux can't see why Mediaworks can't do it??

sbiddle: Have you seen Media Works' current balance sheet? If not you might want to look at it.
One thing us HD fans forget is that the vast majority of viewers still don't care about HD 5.1 content. Spending money that won't generate any extra return in revenue isn't a great business case.
