Actually I'm generally unhappy with the performance of the aerial. I pretty much have to move it to three locations in the room to receive either mediaworks, kordia or tvnz. It only just performed better than my bunny ears with the cardboard parabolic reflector work. So I'm gonna return the amplified uhf indoor aerial. The most inconvenient thing is that it requires power and so a power socket needs to be close-by every time I reposition the aerial. It looked like a returned product anyway, (unsealed box and torn instruction manual). Will look at a cheaper aerial that'll do a better job. Even if the second buy might perform the same, at least I wouldn't have wasted $70!!! to do the same job as the one I have now.

You understand that by using a less than optimal aerial you can't later blame Freeview for any reception problems, right?

You could try one of these if you cant do a full on uhf outdoor install. It is what we use and I have found it to be excellent. You could mount it inconspicuously outside somewhere like on a windowsill, facia board or deck if you have one. Just follow standard install rules. Mount it high as possible and pay attention to polarity depending on the source. Sky Tower is vertical, waiatarua is horizontal. It is omnidirectional, but try aim the front towards your source.

Oh yeah, totally. I get picture perfect reception from all networks, but just not all at the same time (at least I know the freeview receiver off TradeMe works). And I know a simple solution would be to get an outdoor aerial. I will be moving soon anyway. For me, it's more like taking less of a loss, being the purchase of the aerial (results for money, $70 is a lot to me), and simply being happy with the channels I can get with a cheaper aerial, pretty much the same design but not amplified (using the variable gain didn't help anyway).

Everything is all good. I returned the $70 amplified UHF/VHF aerial LT3134 to Jaycar and bought a non-amplified one from DSE prod. code L4017 for $40. It works a treat and I haven't ripped the dipoles out yet. Who would have thought, design over technology. I have 16 Channels now! Are there more? I don't care. lol

So... here is my outcome
Pointing at Waiatarua (H - polarization). I am on the top(3rd) floor of an apartment opp. Target on Dominion Road. My terrestrial receiver is a Zinwell ZMT 620. I am using an indoor UHF/VHF aerial from DSE L4017 and I am receiving 16 channels. Incl. (these were the most difficult to tune) Maori tv, PRIME, tv3 and Four.
