Yeah, being a bit secretive. At least the city and maybe suburb, then they can point you to the appropriate transmitter. Or you could experiment if you wanna try the alternative transmitter yourself if there is one.

Yep, if we have this info then we can tell you what hill to point your new uhf antenna to. In some areas it is the same place as the VHF transmitter, other places it can be in the opposite direction.
bfginger: A VHF aerial does receive UHF, just not nearly as well as a UHF aerial. Often old VHF aerials lack line of sight to the transmitter - if this is the case it might only need shifting instead of replacing.
kangaruzi: I live in Auckland, Pakuranga so would that just be the Sky Tower transmitter?
Think I might just go with getting the aerial andrewcnz suggested and get someone to install it, the electronic stuff seems a bit too hardcore.
Although I did notice there is quite a range of UHF antennas would the 21 element one be best for me?
As you already get some freeview signal with the wrong type of aerial then a basic UHF should suffice. Have a look around at your next door neighbours. Do they have UHF aerials on there roofs and if so how big? Give you some idea of requirements in your area.
