you need to put lights on that man to warn low flying craft, i've got the same prob you had, about to use the old vhf mask (around 2m) and attach it to my current mask thats fixed 1m above the chimley.

Good on ya mate. Might want to pain that roof whilst you're up there too?!

In your case the non directional antenna might be helping you out a bit as you have no direct line of sight. Normally though you'd go for the biggest/longest/meanest UHF Yagi aerial you could find.
