I'd say that that was an excellent analysis of the situation and a sound decision.

ADKM: I think that's a copout as everything else works perfectly with it including other sat receivers.  If if is the cause, and I can't see how, then the 900 should have been designed better and been less suseptible to intereference.

I think those lines sum it all up and could be used for lots of devices in the digital TV product lines, not just this particular model.

I've had several digital TV devices which have each had their own quirks.  Blaming the aerial etc only goes so far when there are other units functioning perfectly well from the same signal source.  The inbuilt TV tuners seem to give the best results in my limited experience with this.

When you raise a software or build quality issue, the response is usually to try this or that etc which you would expect.  However often you know in advance that these solutions are very unlikely to have any effect on the problem.  Then, once they have then found the 'cause', you are expected to replace your gear, even though magically everything else connected to it works fine.

The general consumer response to these sorts of things needs to improve before we will see some improvement.  So well done for chasing it through.

Thanks fpr the vote of confidence.  I don't the shop ever wants to see me again though!
The disappointing thing is they're in complete denial it's their product at fault, and when shown the evidence become experts at blaming everything else. Buyer beware indeed, this has been quite an eye opener.

Gosh - you weren't told that hundreds of the units had been sold and nobody else had ever had any complaints, and accused of wasting his time in a series of rude phone calls, before he finally gave you a refund "just to get you out of his life" at all were you?

xarqi - You & I must have been speaking to the same guy - or are they all like that ? !!

I presume DVB-S2 means it receives Ch9/Gemm/Go ? Any suggestions? Apart from the Vu+ Duo, or any dual tuner with hard drive model ? Thanks.
