walt12: Read this:

sbiddle: Just one other thing for people to remember - if you are using Vista you *must* use EVR if you want hardware acceleration.

EVR supports DXVA2 and PowerDVD also supports DXVA2.

DXVA was the original hardware acceleration under XP using VMR9 however while Vista supports DXVA it will not deliver hardware acceleration. If you're running Vista and use VMR9 your system will not be able to take full advantage of the hardware offloading.

I read this and did a search for EVR & DXVA2 but didnt find any links with downloads so im not sure what EVR is and how I set it up in vista or DVBViewer or PowerDVD, some more info on these sort of post would be more helpfull I guess.

So how do i set EVR in Vista ??

EVR is the renderer used by an application to display content on the screen. If you look at programs such as GB-PVR, Media Portal or DVBViewer they all allow you to select from the various renderers available on your system.

There is nothing to download, it's just a matter of selecting EVR as the renderer in the program.

cranz: Hmm the xml file is loaded with 690, 706 and 778 for the Kaukau and Wharite sites in Wellington so you should be alright. It doesn't contain tuning paramters for Baxters Knob, Fizherbert or Wellington infill.

Is DVBViewer picking up TVNZ and Kordia on 690Mhz and 778Mhz? (Channel editor should tell you)

If so will need to investigate further

And most interesting, if I go to My TV, TV-Streams - it show "no streams".

That's the problem of trying software in development stages... Might go back there when it's actually released and working.

Interesting, are you using SVN revisions 18123 or 18153? There are a few issues with these 2..

If you scan again in TVServer and send me your tv.log and TsWriter.log files I'll have a look at what's happening

18153, downloaded just before. And most interesting: My TV plugin shows "No streams" but the TV-Server configuration shows a beautiful preview...

Sbiddle, remember how we couldn't set EVR for dvbviewer on Windows Vista running on my Mac mini?

I've downloaded the latest Intel Media Graphics Accelerator Driver for the 945GT chipset, and now I am able to enable EVR on dvbviewer without it freezing the computer.

The picture is now much smoother, without the jerky movements... And still using about 60% - 80% CPU when in full screen.

Cool.. EVR is far superior to VMR and if you are running Vista you really should be using EVR rather than VMR. Firstly as explained above you won't get hardware acceleration without this if you have a capable video card and secondly it does deliver a far superior picture than VMR9 does.

Well I have given up for now, I found EVR in DVBViewer and when itsset to render I get a black screen but I can tell its on the channel just no picture.  This happens with either the onboard ATI 1250 or the 8500GT so its seems something else is not working in my system as I get the same results in GBPVR as well just a black screen, the thing thats getting me is this all worked this morning both in DVBViewer and GBPVR then just stopped and since then its refused to work at all.

I also find EVR under dvbviewer does not run as expected, but it IS listed as experimental. I will see how it goes in the next release. It seems to work well under Media Portal however.

I can't brain today. I have the dumb.
