xarqi: I hope all goes well for you. Report back in a month or so if you like, and let us know how you got on, good or bad.

Here's a very quick follow up which I'll expand on in more detail within the next week.

Overall I'm very happy with the UltraPlus I bought.  I have been super busy the last few weeks so have only spent a few hours using it so far.

It only has the one tuner but I haven't found that to be too much of a problem having suddenly realised the value of the TVNZ+1 and TVNZ+3 channels.

I have upgraded the stock firmware to one of the latest beta versions which has properly enabled recording over the network to my SAMBA server (the original firmware refused to connect).

It is really cool to have programs recording to my computer hard-drive downstairs.   This is the first step in my plan to enable house wide streaming of recorded programs.  Next I will finish setting up & testing Plex so that I can access and watch the recordings on other devices - on my Android tablet while I'm in bed, for example.

It's not something I really need to do... I'm just intrigued by the geek factor of record once and watch anywhere there is network access.

DLNA streaming of other media on my MediaTomb DLNA server works great.

The EPG, general on screen navigation is great - I'm very happy with it.

I get the occasional crash and annoyance - the network drive disconnecting without warning a couple of times - particularly frustrating in that the UltraPlus does not give any error messages to explain why it wouldn't connect again.  Eventually it connected again after I renamed my SAMBA share.

The InternetTV set of live streams is actually pretty cool although I suspect very much in the grey area of legality for some of the channels.  It's cool to get a Nasa TV stream and always fun watching Indian Bollywood music videos.

The remote is good and fairly intuitive.

One thing this unit needs is a really good getting started guide with tips on getting the right firmware and settings in place - it is a big bundle of confusion for a new user trying to get a grip on the firmware upgrades, plugins etc.

I have to say thank you to the person (who's name escapes me right now, sorry) who imports these units.  I had a couple of quick calls with him and he provided some exceptionally helpful information and sent me the beta firmware to try out.

I'll write up a more detailed analysis and a setup guide + recommendations some time within the next week, time permitting.
