Yes, splitters degrade the signal strength, and they cause signal quality issues where there are multiple unterminated ends, as is the case when you've got nothing plugged into lots of wall outlets around the house.
I'd recommend bypassing the splitter initially, connecting the one aerial cable to just the one relevant wall outlet using a male/male f connector joiner, eg:
Also, without meaning to appear rude, I'd suggest rechecking the connection to your new aerial, to ensure that you have no outside shield braiding touching the inner solid core piece. That's absolutely critical to the whole thing, as a short like this anywhere along the run/system will pull everything down.
+1 Bypass the splitter. Check for bad joints or shorts. Sounds like you may have a short or open circuit there somewhere. If that fails try running another temp cable direct from the antenna to the TV (through an open window) to see if there is sufficient signal to sart with (maybe try this first?).
Hi readg ur posts so u used ur exsistg aerial cable and hookd up ur new noel leemg one straight to splitter box that rght. As ths wat ive ben askg as didnt no weather we had join old vhf/uhf aerial to new uhf hd aerial but readgg ur says jst use exsistg old uhf cable. As again mine only 4yr old but not grunty enough hopg new one wil be as to me they so tiny againest old. Hope hear bak
