HGTV isn't being broadcast on Freeview Satellite yet, only Terrestrial.

Apparently it's only about 6-8 weeks away, though.

I've watched a couple of shows so far. I'd watch more, but a lot of them use a particular style of camera work which makes me nauseous - that hand-held footage that never stays still, and worst of all, suddenly zooms in or out really fast, usually several times in a minute. I don't know why they do it, but I can't last more than about 30 seconds without having to change the channel. Steady-cam, people. Look into it.

oh good god yet more boring as s**t home improvement or gardening or dire TV selling when will we get a decent channel with a good line up of non diy or room crashing morons or reality garbage TV I'd like to watch TV to get away from reality not watch someone else's ...

What we need is a sci-fi channel that replays all the old sci-fi shows you know like Logans run BSG, Star trek (all of them). Babylon 5... All the good old sci-fi we used to love and still do and maybe some new stuff to like Dark Mater and the likes

Why? They are pretty well served on streaming platforms.

I would never watch my scifi in butchered broadcast.

I agree that the way many HGTV programs are filmed makes one nauseous. They can't seem to film one scene without having to quickly and constantly swing around to something else. Perhaps this has to do with a short attention span of American viewers. I find it very annoying so tend to switch channels because of this too.

HGTV has the same issues as choice on many of their programs. A weird issue which looks like a format conversion fault.

Like they have dropped video frames especially bad on panned camera shots.

It's dropped frames I think, from 30 down to 25. Usually you'd blend the frames so it isn't noticeable.

I cant stand watching those 2 channels, both because of the lousy SD and the judder from dropped frames. Dropped frames really screw up motionflow on the TV, making things look like they are jumping backwards a little every time there is a drop.

Blending frames is even worse. They should use a proper conversion with optical flow.

Or better still, stop bastardizing things to a frame rate based on legacy analog formats not in use anymore. The 24 to 25 is worst with the speed up.

Choice and HGTV are fine on our system, Choice was not good a few years back but now they are the same as TVNZ and Meduaworks SD offerings. The content on Choice is better than HGTV.

A world that has gone totally insane.

I don't get this type of comment. Everyone is different. Some may scream at a stupid sci fi channel, or if there was a boring as quality news channel. Others love them. There is no such thing as boring TV content, its in the eyes of the beholder.

Yes, Id love a sci of channel too, but as Rich stated, there are PLENTY of other cheap as chips options
