cyril7:
In recent weeks I have noticed several UHF antennas pointed at our local Tx (Ngarara) all with the wrong polarity, in two instances I was cycling passed and noticed the home owner in the front yard and brought this oversight to their attention, the response in both case made me decide to leave these stupid folk to their own, make me wonder what kind of society we have created, simple pointers of miss information changed into a challenge of what they learn on Mr Google.
I have noticed a heap of UHF aerials also being mounted with the "wrong" polarity and all since Freeview started. In Hawke's Bay the polarity has always been vertical but many new subdivisions predominantly have their aerials mounted horizontally by supposed professional installers and seem to make zero difference to their reception from what I've seen. I'm wondering whether digital transmission cares as much about polarity or as we're in a high gain area if the signal blasts through regardless and horizontal is more aesthetic?
