ventolin: The Hyundai engineers should share the EPG from satellite to terrestrial then you could use it to record HD

That would be fine if you have a dish but what about most people who don't?

Then this unit would add nothing over the Vantage. They will still have the same dilema of no 7 day EPG.

Yep, I agree - it won't solve the EPG problem for many people. However, I'm in the lucky position of having an unused Sky satelite dish sitting on our roof, as well as an ok UHF aerial (going by the good Maori/Prime we get), so this could indeed be a suitable unit for our household.

Hyundai gives some backup if one transmission system goes down.  Also there's another channel on sat that's not on uhf.  Has access to a real epg.  Cheaper than vantage.

Still external hard drive.  I'm really keen to see what is coming on the official PVR front.  I'm hoping they do release a new EPG to allow the one click and series link type functions of my sky.  Sony was very early with inbuilt tuners, I wonder if they are working on something.  Might be hard for big name companies to develop though with all the copyright hdcp type inclusions on the official zinwell etc.

Oh i'm definately not trying to rubbish the receiver it looks good, it's just a pain that freeview decided to transmit the EPG via MHEG-5 only and not the EIT Schedule.

Theres a chap from www.sommetdigital.co.nz who posted here http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=83&topicid=26771
Does anyone have any more info regarding this one?

I have been in contact with both ultrapower and satnet who will stock the Hyundai AH3110(both bad web sites!) and the last date I had for its arrival was 2 weeks ago and further emails to them asking when it will arrive just say that they are waiting on their suppliers.

Was anything announced? Can't find any news about an official Freeview PVR online yet.

I've just been having a look myself and can't find anything. Considering the article says it was being announced on tuesday I thought there'd some sort of press release doing the rounds.

Searching for "Zinwell PVR DVB-T" on google I found this PVR. Seems to have everything except for MHEG5 for NZ freeview but I can't find any sellers!

I saw one of the new Zinwell's last night and had a brief play with it. They are a nice unit and the picture quality looked very good. Hopefully the reliability of these units is slightly better then the existing Zinwell STB's!

@nav2u - they are nothing like the unit you posted the link to.

sbiddle, what was the format of the zinwell box, was it box + external HDD or is it an all in one PVR?  Twin tuners sort of thing or single etc?  How does it schedule recordings etc?

Cheers.
