No thats not it - sometimes all the channels are the same and sometimes they are different - I am guessing that the different channels are for different for different regions - kinda like TV stations in the USA
channel 7 was an ABC affiliate in Detroit they picked up the satellite broadcast and used it as a potion of there daily programing - then again I could be totally wrong.

I do want to make one little point that seems to have gone unnoticed and that is that all of the SBS channels are part of the EPG so perhaps not only are they here in New Zealand as some sort of consequence but perhaps deliberately.

You will see delayed broadcasts of the same scheduled programs for different time zones, so lets say Bay Watch is on at 6 pm in Sydney, it will also be on 6 pm local time in Perth via WA SBS. But they tend to get together often for news broadcasts. But SBS have upped their game ( IMHO ) over recent months so, fortuitously I get to watch the Ashes in HD, yeah 720, not 1080, but to be honest their SD is quite good as well.

SBS 2, 3, and 4 have identical PID's when I scan them

EPG also works via Aurora ( C1 )

Yeah the SD Ashes content was awesome quality, especially noticeable when switching from say TV1 on freeview.

For those who haven't spotted this, the latest series of Top Gear is showing on Monday nights at 9.30pm
Basically just add two hours I think it is to the times mentioned on the website.

Via SBS we don't have to wait for Prime to get around to showing it, which is why I think there is merit in a dual tuner PVR, one HD and one Sat, that allows you to record each at the same time.

Hi. I have solved my problem getting SBS. I have to disconnect my sky cable. Thats all. My SBS signal is 45%, whereas Freeview is 80%. I wish I purchases an HD Satellite receiver to get SBS's HD channel.

I had trouble too getting SBS to work, I think that horizontle is low voltage and verticle is high,, It might be the other way round.. that is how the reciever changes the polarity,, I think,,, Now if your sky reciver was on a horizontle channell you would not get free view cos its vertical,, I have two recievers on free view,, now I found that turning the reciever off was not good enough and it had to be switched off at the wall..... Now since then I have found that If I leave one of the recievers on vertical channel thats sbs the other one will go through all the channels. So what you could do is tune a bogus vertical channel on sky and call it channel xx ,, then to use free view all you need to do is switch sky to channel xx and then freeveiw will work with out turning off the sky box.. Im getting tired now after thinking about all that and better lay down for a bit,, The boys will correct me if Im wrong....

SBS is quite weak now. Horizontal overrides vertical, so all boxes must be on a vertical channel to pick it up.

Still booming in on a 45 cm in Auckland. You may find that you need to alter your skew angle to peak the vertical signal. This simple exercise also ensures that the horizontal is peaked to the max. You may also need to move the dish slightly to achieve a decent signal quality.

Argh! I set my sat stb up to feed into my old philips hdd recorder for top gear last night. When I checked later it said some parts of the recording were copy protected so it couldn't save the recording?! Never seen that before, not sure if it was Top Gear, or South Park, or just a stuff up/glitch on my recorder. Was connected over analogue composite out only. Weird and another reason for a proper Sat pvr!
