bfginger: ..... (edit)...... The poor quality of Freeview Satellite .... (edit).....


To be fair.... the quality of Freeview via Satellite is much better than transmissions via the original terrestrial channels where you'd get lots of ghosting and other interference because of the broad channel ranges and signal paths aerials have/had to contend with.

I've never found the freeview sat feeds bad. They are far superior to the feeds i see from sky at friends places - terribly blocky on big screen tvs especially. My freeview sat feed has none of that.

I think as HD programming becomes more mainstream TVNZ etc will be forced to roll out more HD coverage. When, now that is the question.

I've just realised that not all Freewview|HD channels are broadcast in hi def.  From wot i can pic up here (Blenheim) TV1,2,3 are on 1080/25Hz.  TVNZ 6,7, maori, prime, chinese, c4 etc are 576/25hz and Freeview|HD demo 720/50hz.
