loaded the new firmware on last night and was all very painless as jaxson said. can't see any changes, but as long as it fixes the recording issues i'll be a happy camper.
bazzer-loading the new firmware doesn't delete anything in the 'record list' or 'play list'.

Agreed, I checked last night and everything I had lined up and everything pre recorded is still there untouched.

Mine has been rock solid really bar the stupid lotto thing and the stupid decision to not put the 'overuns' before and after a show on both files if two shows are recorded back to back. It creates 2 files but you can easily have the end or start of a show on the other file. Delete one or the other and you lose some of the adjacent show.

We have twice though missed the last minute or so of Greys Anatomy, so that will be one to watch after the firmware update, as well as the lotto spanning movie this Saturday.

The issue isn't with applying the firmware, it's with the factory reset after that.  Without a reset, there's no guarantee that there won't be some legacy problems from the previous firmware.  The factory reset almost certainly requires redoing the record list.

But you may be negating some of the benefits of the firmware upgrade. Don't misunserstand me, a factory reset doesn't (or isn't meant to) remove your recorded programs, just your scheduled list and other settings.

Might have to do the factory reset.

The lotto recording failed again, in that it only got the section at the start.

That's best case. Worst case, the firmware did nothing. I'm convinced it's at least partly an EPG issue but I have no proof of that. Having said that, if other boxes are working OK then it must be possible to fix this with a firmware update.
