They are VERY close, but it does look like TV1 has a tiny bit better quality, that or TV1 just increased the sharpness by a little to make it seem higher quality.

Still both channels are leaps and bounds away from any kind of HD :(

I thought both feeds where fantastic considering they where down-scaled. The commentary on ITN was better but did notice at one stage the audio sync was out on the ITN feed, they did put it right though.

Down-scaling HD to SD with high bit rate will always look better than standard SD any day.

Out of curiosity, I watched for a few minutes just to compare the satellite broadcasts from TV One, TV3 and Channel Nine (on GEM in 1080i). The HD broadcast was noticeably more crisp, with none of the blocking artefacts predicted being visible to me. Truthfully, I could not have hoped for a better quality broadcast, but perhaps my standards are low.

(90 cm dish -> Vu+ Duo ->(HDMI)-> Panasonic 50V20)

Yeah true, was pretty good compared to some other SD content.

I didn't like how TV1 and 3 kinda went to a ad brake at the same time kinda sad but hey thats what the internet is for :)

Oh thought the sound was good as well, bit of a shame it was only in stereo, wish TV3 broadcast it in 5.1, never mind set the home theatre system to dolby prologic 2 whch was better than nothing.

I watched this on the Globecast feed of ITV's coverage from D2 (no ads). Anyone know if that was what TV One and TV 3 were using for their source? The audio sync wasn't great at times, but the sound and picture quality seemed exceptional even if they were SD.

Yes TV3 where using the ITV feed, picture quality and sound (even though it was only 2 channel) where fantastic.

Well I counted 8 feeds of the wedding.

TV1, TV3, UKTV, Sky News, BBC, CNN, Fox News and DWTV.

Since the complaint about not having HD was the cost of the bandwidth, if a couple of the channels could have shared the feed, then there might have been enough for one HD feed!

I hated the TV1 ad breaks. I actually didn't watch it live but recorded TV1 and TV3 for my wife and we ended up watching the TV3 feed.

TV1 tonight just showed some highlights from last night and the quality was well below SD but over on 3 it was much better. Strange that.

Obviously TV 1 didn't make a raw/high quality copy of the feed they used last night.

Almost 2.2 million kiwis tuned in to watch the Royal Wedding last night.

Official data from Nielsen TAM shows that 2,192,000 viewers watched the wedding at some stage between 7:30pm – 12:30am on TV ONE and/or TV3 (viewers who watched parts of the wedding on both channels have only been counted once to provide an accurate figure).

The ceremony itself drew the highest audience of the night. 1,376,610 viewers watched Prince William and Catherine Middleton exchange vows live from Westminster Abbey between 10:15-10:30pm. (884,190 on TV ONE – 492,420 on TV3)

Not bad ratings

How can they know how many people were watching?

I have no internet connection to my tv or sat box... it's a one way communication, they can't of known if I was watching or not...along with allot of other people.

Am I missing something?
