hytek: Ya just did a scan to and picked up all 11 channels looking good(ch3 sounding good), now what is it here for good or just a test tonight. Hoping for good.

As bjorn said we are missing a few channels so it might be up and down for, at least, a number of days but I'm sure they can add them without resorting to switching the carriers off.

I mean if Sky add channels without taking the whole service down then there should be no problem with this.

Is there anything special I have to do with a samsung plasma? I did a scan yesterday and no channels came up.

I also noticed that it starts scanning at channel 5 then jumps from 12 to 21. Is that normal?

We can pick up prime and Maori channel so I presume nothing needs moving on the roof

Actually Shorty was in HD this morning as was last night's tennis (although this wasn't even advertised as such anywhere) and on my Sony Bravia it upscales non-HD content nicely and I'm using the Dish TV T1020 receiver.

I was at my fathers place in Invercargill today. Tuned in his Sony TV with perfect results in just a few minutes. His aerial installation is not the best... a 20 year old 5 ele yagi pointed at Hedgehope. No problems at this stage. Should have got up on the roof & moved it round, but it can wait.
Excellent quality on the tennis, not that my father seemed to be able to tell.
He also has Freeview satellite, and it looked like rubbish. Jpeg commpression ugg!

Is everyone getting freeview? I can only pick up 4 channels (TVNZ1,2, U, 7), but with no sound or audio. Is it just me? I too am in otatara. I had tvnz 1 and 2 clear during the week.

I know. Freeview HD is like tha bomb.

And if you have an HD TV it even upscales the non-HD content.

I only have gripe so far though and that seems to be the audio/video sync on some channels.

In Wairarapa.

One, Two, Three are the only broadcasting channels. They seem to be just broadcasting the freeview sat feed as the picture quality is bad and audio sync is non existent. 576i.

On Thursday 1080i was broadcasting (very nice), but then all channels went black and 1,2,3 came back as very bad quality SD broadcast. At that point I went back to Freeview Sat

Until 1080i goes up, we are staying on Freeview Sat, better quality and audio sync!!!!

About the newspaper article, they seem to have jumped the gun a little bit.

Working well out at Kennington, through Windows Media Center on my Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-2200.  Few audio sync issues but otherwise all good.

Hi DaMo73,

How's your recording and playback experience with your T1020 USB PVR?  I was using it with a Western digital elemnts 2TB 3.5" hard drive and the playback got lots of pixellation.

Cheers!

I haven't got an HD for it yet but I did email Dish TV about hard drives and they told me, and I think I've mentioned this elsewhere, that a 1TB hard disk is the highest recommended size to use, but a 500gb would be better to go with and it should also be AC powered.

I think any size above 1TB is overkill and might not work right but users have to remember that the firmware is new and is only a version 1 release so it might be worked upon and may work better in the future.
