Hi, There are a few options going lower in number etc from HD 1080i until you get to Native.
Some of the lower settings below 700 down to Native are not supported.

I was a little out re my reply.

1080i 50 supported
720p 50 supported
576i 50 supported
576ip 50 not supported
1080p 50 not supported
Native not supported

I too, have experienced 'lockups' and every other possible 'cockup' since buying the S7090PVR. Have contacted DishTv who suggest all the problems are "signal related". Of course my 'professional" installer claims his work is OK and that all problems are DishTv technical issues. Have tried 'reboots', 'factory defaults', Over The Air firmware upgrades. Nothing seems gto last more than a couple of days before problems recurr.
Signal strength & quality fluctuates slightly around 86 - 88%.
I would like to manually download the latest firmware upgrade to avoid the suggestion that the signal strength/quality cant handle an OTA upgrade, but can't find any reference on DishTv website!
Can anyone tell me how to access the firmware update from DisTV website? (plain english please for this non-geek)

Sure, go to this webpage by clicking on the link:

http://www.dishtv.co.nz/vmchk/Satellite-Receivers-satBox/11-satBox-Ultra-S7090PVR-Freeview-Satellite-DTR/flypage_web2_lite.tpl.htm

Then go to the bottom of the page and click on "Download Here" with your USB drive already inserted.

Follow the instructions and you are ready to upload to the S7090

Go to Dishtv.co.nz (for updating to latest firmware for S7090PVR)

click on product 7090PVR wait for page to open
click on More info
go down to the bottom of the Description page is the latest firmware installer v1.4e
follow the instructions that are downloaded onto your pen drive - print them out if necessary
NOTE you will need a pen drive to take the downloaded file to the dish unite

Hope this works for you.. signal strength is a little low should be over 90 - 95% for best results
