cobranz: This is my first post, so I hope I do it right.

I'm also dissapointed if we wouldn't get SBS back here in Wellington. I hardly watch any of the other Freeview channels. SBS had a good choice of programs. I liked to watch the International Movies. There are other countries who make good movies. It doesn't always have to be in English.
I was also looking forward to the Eurovision Song Contest in 3 weeks. Since Stratos doesn't exsist anymore - who brought us the show in the last years - I don't think there will be any change to watch it this year apart from the Internet. BVN on D2 would bring it. But there is not much of interest on this satelit for us. To install another LNB just for 3 shows a year would be silly. My son liked to watch the 'Letters and numbers'. What do we have here which is similar? Nothing. There are so many boring reality shows, cooking shows and whatever.

I hope there will be a way to get SBS back in the near future. It's more entertaining than any channel here in NZ.

It is still possible to get SBS from the Optus C1 satellite, but you need an Aurora Irdeto card for your STB. The service will be removed in about 18 months. SBS 1 only but available in 3 time shifts (SE Aus, Qld, WA) - also SCTV (Channel 7 Central).

It funny.. in Oz they complain about free tv channels being crap (and some are)...  but they haven't seen TVNZ to compare real shet to shet.

I mean what TV station buys the rights to a good program like Justified then puts it on air at 11:30pm at night.. and manages to play the episodes out of order.

Hopefully the previous post ye FA Cup game is all it is.

You don't take down a multi-channel service just because of a stoush over rights to air one program. Whoever has the smaller fighting fund runs something else instead in the slot. Sadly, I don't think that that is a straw even worth clutching at.

Oh dear. Well at least it isn't just me. I re-tuned to no avail and now know why. If/when it comes back, will it just appear, or will we all have to re-scan - and who is going to let us all know when it happens??
Like everyone else this was my main viewing option - looking forward to the Tour so that is a b.... So saying, I am off to London again this week so will still be there to see it live during the day. If any of you lot decide to put in a bigger dish and/or tune to IS5, please post a detailed description of how to do it or PM me please. Would love to keep the Aussies in my lounge. BTW, VIX still crashes on me but if I don't do anything other than change channels it is great!

Thanks for that warning.  I will stick with VIX 2.1 and keep well clear of 2.3 at least for a while.

Does anyone know whats happened to SBS Tasmania as I haven't be able to view their programmes since the 04/05/2012
Has it done the following
Changed it satellite settings, what are the new settings if known
Changed to another satellite which satellite and settings if known
Have to another broadcast system

Nobody here knows or is saying.  Investigations will proceed with a member putting in a call to SBS on Monday and reporting back.
My theory?
They had sufficient penetration into Tasmania via VAST on Optus C1 to pull the plug on Optus D1 transmission.

Heres some news I found on the net yesterday it seems when channel 7 closes tv one will broadcasting it's programmes as a delyed programme just like tv3 plus one and will make tv viewing a lot more boring.
Just out of interest I watch more videos of the net then I watch anything on tv

I managed to stream Coast @ 1000kbps for the first time tonight.  Quality was pretty much as good as a satellite SD channel.

SBS only give you 7 days to download a programme after it has gone to air though, compared to about a month for BBC iPlayer.  It means you have to remember to watch it pretty smartly or it's gone...

I am unable to receive SBS reception for the past few days here in Auckland. The signal is none existing, so weather conditions is not a factor.

I have not been able to get the two SBS channels for the past 2 days. (Hamilton)  I went online to catchup on some programmes and discovered I could not view any on line.

Perhaps they have cut all links to NZ, or.... worse still like Channel 7 they can not afford to keep the service going.
