They can if you buy the waterproof rubber boots to cover them. I got some a long time ago from Dick Smith.

Thanks a lot everyone for your help and insight! After doing all that it seems it's finally in working order, without the amp.

Currently at:

33 - SQ: 10 - SS: 9
35 - SQ: 10 - SS: 7-8
37 - SQ: 10 - SS: 7-8


Still a bit touchy if I touch the cord from the wall socket(new f-con on both sides) to the TV or XW390 but that could just be because of my had laying around screw on PAL connector ;p
