Wills1: I asked on thePanasonic Facebook page a couple of days ago if there were any FreeviewPlus PVR's coming soon. They replied and said the 550 will be functional with FreeviewPlus end of January. With more models to come later.

I think I'll buy the aerial box option instead. Although it appears there are bugs, they are really good on the forums here about addressing them with software updates. Seems lick a much better supported product.

Not in time for Christmas... that will disappoint retailers.

I'm still grumpy my 840GZ isn't getting a software upgrade, despite being the most expensive model in their range (or it was when I bought it earlier this year).

I've got the Blueray recorder with Freeview tuners that I bought years ago... it was over $800 then.  Should that get an upgrade too because I doubt they sell a more premium model.  I guess they have to start somewhere and you are never going to keep everyone happy.  Was your model on sale at the time? I wouldn't be surprised.

It was slightly discounted. Thing is, they are still selling it as their premium product, but it can't even get the Netflix app via the Viera App Store. I realize they have to start somewhere, but the fact that the 940GZ ( the Australian equvalent) got a software update did not help my disgruntled state. Oh well. Once the new Apple TV gets all the on demand apps, I won't need Freevjew Plus anyway :)

FreeviewPlus is on the latest update, if anyone's still watching this thread.

After installing the 1.19 update, you need to switch it on:

Upgraded today. Turned it on in settings but it still wouldn't work.
Restarted by unplugging and making it full boot and all started working.
Finally.

Nothing on the update site

You might have to contact Panasonic on that one.

I'm finding it a bit confusing as there's now the option of loading the FreeviewPlus guide, or also the normal old Freeview Guide. You can only record live tv via in the standard guide, but can only stream old episodes in the new Freeviewplus guide. I've noticed both popping up at the same time too on occasion, I think it's when you change channel.

So yeah nice to have but needs a bit more refinement to the UI. Pretty confusing for me and even more frustrating for the family.

freeview and freeview plus are 2 different services

freeview is live tv and future tv, freeview plus is past TV + some exclusive content which used your internet to get the content. hence the 2 different guides and the different ways of viewing content.

its the same on other devices with freeview plus. its not a panasonic etc issue its a freeview issue, so your suggestions need to be directed towards them.

Any updates on how this unit is functioning with Freeview Plus?

I'll be replacing MySky within the next couple of weeks. Trying to decide between this and the Aerialbox T2200.

Any comments would be appreciated.

It has been a little buggy, but you do have the option to turn the freeview plus off. This will increases its speed.

I saw it at JB Hifi for $290 the other day. (I see it is back up to $498). A real bargain just for the recorder, netflix and Blue ray alone.

It will also stream tv to i devices over the network using the panasonic app.

Hopefully there will be further updates to improve the UI, but I have found turning it off and unplugging power if it hiccups fixes any problems which i have to do very rarely.

I still recommend it, just look out for specials

Oh no. Freeview Plus is one of the main reasons I am after it. It seems to be really difficult to find a Freeview PVR that is Stable without Bugs. Thats one of the main reasons We've stuck with Mysky for so long, because its rock solid.
