That ends the debate thank you. Then it should be a channel that most new Zealanders can relate to, not just 15% (who as proven above don't watch very much of it anyway)

This is factually incorrect (at least in Wellington). We have 25 FTA channels, and only three of them (TVNZ 1, TVNZ 2 and Three) broadcast in HD (Four when Māori TV switch). In Australia, only six of the 20+ channels are in HD.

Bravo is also HD. So we already have 5, 6 when Maori switch.

Actually meant the watchable tv channels. There are a lot of junk channels on freeview too. Ie Chinese TV, shopping channels, dare I say Maori TV channel etc ....... Dont really care about those being HD or not.

Bravo isn't in HD, which means we've only got 3 HD FTA channels currently.

I'd personally like to see Duke and Choice in addition to Prime and MaoriTV

Even though the Wikipedia page says Bravo is in HD, it definitely is a SD signal in Wellington, May be it is HD in Auckland/or and other areas. So my statement stands (at least for Wellington) in that only 3 of the 25 TV channels are currently broadcasting in HD (Prime isn't HD here either, only the Sky version is).

On a personal note, I would like to see TVNZ Duke in HD as it contains sports content and great content that should be in HD.
And to get those FTA HD Channels unlocked on Satellite.

Nah, Bravo NZ says it is in 1080i. Ca someone in Auckland confirm if it is HD up there on Freeview|HD?

Maori TV isn't on the Mediaworks Mux so I'm wondering if their going to light up an additional multiplex. Or are they going to move some channels off the current MaoriTV allocated multiplex.

Ditto I'd love to see Prime in HD.

Wouldn't hold my breath ever seeing Prime in HD on the UHF platform not while it is owned by Sky TV.

The whole point of it is that it doesn't pander to dumbed-down majority taste. There is plenty of that crap already. I suppose your idea of something that most New Zealanders can relate to is something that you can relate to. Maybe some New Zealanders have other ideas.

Just re-scanned in Lower Hutt (I was up for breakfast early), and Maori TV is still SD at the moment.

I don't think I saw any extra mux loading either- mind you I was just watching the UHF channels as my Samsung TV scanned - I don't have any software to do a full technical analysis (hidden channels etc).

Anyone out there noticed any 'behind the scenes' changes?
