sbiddle:

Dealing with Samsung over the issue is a lost cause. Both Samsung and Radiolia simply don't care don't care about the issue.

Thanks for that info.

What you're wanting however goes against best practice around the world however, and for that reason it will never change. If the content is in 5.1 it's broadcast in 5.1, if it's in 2ch stereo it's broadcast as a 2ch stereo feed. I'm personally not one for "simulated" audio.

Some 2.0 audio has matrix encoded channels.

Matrix encoding is present in the AAC stream where supplied in the source material, the audio processor also uses this information when creating the "pseudo 5.1" on the DD stream.

Yip and if it's present it should be encoded within the AAC stream.

And it will also be encoded on DD2.0 as well but unlike AAC or similar audio formatting on a DVD or BD, the end user can't decode it when broadcast on FV.

Thanks for looking that up for me. That's pretty old though. Dec 02, 2009. I think I may have that firmware, can't check right now.
